Another successful weekend of weddings complete! The wire topiary installation seen above took a bit of engineering ingenuity to create and we enjoyed every second of figuring out the details. It is such a fun experience to create some completely new and unique for each of our brides!

We are now gearing up for the WE tv My Fair Wedding Mall Tour event this Saturday, July 3rd, at the Mall of Louisiana. Please join in us in welcoming David Tuttera, WE tv Wedding Expert and host of WE tv's hit original series, My Fair Wedding, as he shares his secrets on creating an elegant and sophisticated wedding experience. We are so excited to be the exclusive florist for this event!

Since we last met 4 brides have moved from "current bride" to "past bride", we have successfully completed our 6th Out of the Box bridal show and are working on 2 more "current brides". We are also working on our designs for the next bridal show coming up - My Fair Wedding Mall Tour. This celebrity studded event promises to be incredible, with Mr. David Tutera on hand to guide our local brides in the right direction. Mr. Tutera is a celebrity wedding planner and star of My Fair Wedding, a reality series where real life brides are aided by Mr. Tutera and have their dream weddings realized. Also on hand, Ron Ben-Isreal, Mark Ingram and Ceci Johnson. We are the exclusive florist for the event and cannot wait to have all of our designs come together for this spectacular event. Well it has come and gone - Out of the Box bridal show. It was a huge success! You would think that with each show the giddyness of participation would wear off, but it doesn't. Each time we do a show we are in competition with ourselves, trying to out-do the last show we did. The Old State Capital could not have been more perfect for the show and our designs. Check out some our pictures from our last wedding and pictures from the show on Facebook. We will be posting pictures from the show and other weddings soon. See you at the next show!

So here we are just one week before Out of the Box: An Engaging Cocktail Party. While this will be our 6th consecutive OOTB show we still feel like debutantes at our first ball: wanting to make an incredible first impression or at least a lasting one. Each show has it's own unique dynamic, and I am sure this one will be no different. We surveyed the "lay of the land" yesterday at the Old State Capital and I think that you will be as amazed as we were. I have done events at the historic site before, but I have never had full "reign" of the place. With the crayola assortment of colors on the mirror image stained glass windows on the second floor, one could not help but be in awe. It is such a privilege to call this fantastic site the home of OOTB. Here are a few details about the event. We cannot wait to see you there!

Spring cleaning is in high gear here at Fleur Du Jour, not only to make room for new merchandise, but also to get ready for our first annual fundraiser to aid worldwide relief efforts. With all that is going on in the world around us we feel we can make a big impact not only as individuals, but also together. With the tight-knit community downtown we want to continue the vibe, by inviting everyone to help us raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.

100% of our proceeds will go to an organization that we have researched and feel is doing great things in Haiti. Love a Child Ministries has been helping the people of Haiti for over 2 decades and continues their ministry now when they are needed most. While there were so many people and organizations to whom we could have donated the proceeds, we chose Love a Child based on their credibility and long time work with the Haitian people.

The sale will be held at our downtown location, 640 Main Street, Baton Rouge, La. 70801. This will be an all-day affair from 8am to 5pm. No early birds please. With an entire community donating, pickin's should be phenomenal for those seeking a unique shopping experience. We will personally be offering baskets, vases, containers of all sorts, decorating items, and other "floristy" items.

We have several sponsors on board with our project - Butler Brothers Rental, Coca-Cola of Baton Rouge, and Chick-Fil-A, Mall of Louisiana, Sutton's Dry Cleaners in Baton Rouge, Dubois Expressions, Gala Productions and Ocken Photography. All are making generous donations to our project.

We have been so grateful for the positive and enthusiastic response to our upcoming sale. We have realized that, while Baton Rouge continues to grow, it is at heart a "small town". This has been extremely evident since we moved into the downtown area and felt the warmth and welcome given to us by our neighbors and fellow business owners.

With the small community feel but large city resources, we are asking for volunteers to help us in our efforts to make this a success. We will need volunteers the week of the sale to help sort, price and organize the garage sale items. Since this is a community garage sale we will be accepting donated items from anyone willing to give, the week of the sale; anything from clothes, toys, and furniture, to home accents.

With the community coming together, we know this event cannot fail, but be a step in the right direction to pulling together to help one another at home and afar. We are so honored to be able to do this for our fellow man and to make a difference, be it big or small.

We are giddy with excitement about our designs for the upcoming Out of the Box bridal show! I do believe I squealed today when I was coming up with designs for the show, but with a backdrop like the Old Governor's Mansion, our inspiration came naturally. With the Out of the Box bridal show and Valentine's Day all in one week the excitement is almost too much to keep in!

Romance is definitely in the air and surrounds both events. We took a cue from the neighboring romantic holiday and carried it over to our designs for the bridal show. No, not hearts, kisses, red, or pink. Instead, we will be using elements such as soft romantic lighting, soft textures, flowing lines, and romantic words.

With Valentine's Day, the bridal show and the Old Governor's Mansion, our inspiration came naturally and we cannot seem to turn it off (but we really don't want to anyway)! Even as I am writing now, ideas are pouring into my head, and, yes, I am squealing with excitement! I hope to see you at Out Of The Box on February 18th from 6 to 9 pm at the Old Governor's Mansion.
